Matboard to me is the upgraded version of cardboard. Some may argue that title goes to corrugated plastic boards or foamcore boards. But for light organizational needs around the house, that looks good without being too janky, I much prefer matboard. It’s a tad thinner than 1/16th of an inch so I’m working with less 1/32nd of an inch of room for error. Mind you, this is all done with hand tools, so my angles are predominantly 90º.
Some structures includes hinges and drawers, others have neodymium magnets on the back to attach them to my galvanized metal sheets I pretend are pegboards. It is empowering to be able to imagine, plan, and make a container design that suits my minor organizational needs.
